The beneficial properties of hops have been known for many years. It has a sedative effect, protects against cancer, diabetes, heart disease. Hops are used mainly in the brewing and pharmaceutical industries, but to maintain the health of the hops the hops should be cultivated without the use of chemical plant protection.

To fertilize the soil: it is recommended to use 60l EmFarmy Plus diluted in 2000l/1ha - we spray in the spring after guiding the plant. To improve the efficiency of fertilization it is recommended to add 1-10l/m3 to the manure or compost pile of EmFarma Plus. This results in faster decomposition of organic matter and increased availability of minerals.

Hop diseases:

Downy mildew of hops - This is the most common fungal disease of hops and contributes to large crop losses. The symptoms of the disease are the basal spikes growing from the shoots. The first symptoms are observed on the leaves near the ground, then the disease includes the remaining leaves, lateral shoots, flowers and cones. In order to prevent the development of the disease, it is recommended to perform a protective treatment after the first symptoms of the disease are identified. For this purpose we use spray 20L EmFarma Plus + 10l Ema5 with wlite diluted in 1000l-2000l water / 1ha.

Powdery mildew - the first symptoms of the disease are observed in the spring (mid May), the upper side of the leaf has hills of brighter color, which has mildew coating. Then this raid attacks the petioles, the ends of young shoots and cones. The rash is initially white with the time it becomes gray or yellowish brown. Disease causes stunted shoots to stop growing, leaves are dying. It is recommended to use Emfarma with Ema5 solution to control the disease.

Verticillosis - the cause of the disease is the fungus that occurs in the soil, which penetrates through the roots of the plant and develops in the vascular tissue of the shoots causing their necrosis. A typical symptom of this disease is the yellowing and drying of the lower leaves. On plantations where the disease is found, it is advisable to reduce nitrogen fertilization. In order to protect plants against disease it is important to fertilize with manure and compost that have been inoculated with beneficial microorganisms (1-3l EmFarma Plus / 1m3 manure and 1-10l EmFarma Plus / 1m3 compost). Fertilization of prepared manure or compost restores the biological balance of the soil and inhibits the growth of pathogens.

Hop pests:

Plum-hop aphid - pests raven on the underside of leaves, stems, flowers and cones. The attacked shoots are defected, the leaves are curled, the flowers are destroyed and the cones turn brown.
